瑞典的科學家對基因的角度提供一个解說,原因就踮佇決定你是查埔抑是查某人的Y染色體 (Y chromosome) 內底。咱人攏總有23對染色體,其中22對是號做體染色體。這22對是無分查埔抑是查某,攏仝款。第23對叫做性染色體,佇查某人是XX,查埔人是XY。X染色體比Y染色體較長,重要的基因攏踮佇X染色體。佇Y染色體內底,主要是予人成做男性的基因。所以講你會成做男性,是因為你有Y染色體。

過去捌有科學家講,查某人因為有兩條X染色體(XX),所以若是有一條發生變異,閣有另外彼條通來支援。但是查埔人干焦有一條X染色體(XY),若是有基因突變就無法度彌補,造成男性佇演化上的不利。毋過上新的研究已經推翻這種講法,認為是Y染色體造成的問題,佮你有幾條X染色體無底代。按呢這个Y染色體是按怎予查埔人有先天的缺陷咧?

瑞典的科學家佇2014年發見:佇濟濟查埔人體內的血球細胞有欠缺 Y染色體,而且年歲愈大流失愈嚴重。𪜶的論文結果顯示,Y染色體的流失和短命佮著癌的機率有正相干。這予科學家推論,Y染色體可能包含會抑制癌細胞發展的抗癌基因。遮的抗癌基因對咱查埔人的健康是不止仔要緊。假使若失去𪜶,當然就會增加著癌的風險。

佇2017年,仝一个研究團隊閣發見食薰會予查埔人的Y染色體縮短,也就是講會予愛食薰的查埔人增加著癌的機率。毋過,好消息是食薰所造成的傷害是會使恢復的。假使若是願意改薰,血球細胞內的Y染色體,有機會會使恢復到佮無食薰的人仝款。
